LEAD Application

This is a one or two-year leadership development program that allows you to choose your own leadership area of interest, and if so desired, also choose your own mentor and other experiences.

 A few experiences you will participate in include:
  • Courses with an approved leadership component
  • An approved hands-on leadership project each semester
  • Meetings with a mentor
  • Peer Leadership
  • A discovery and understanding of your strengths using Gallup's StrengthsFinder 
LEAD Program Expectations
  1. Communicate with Team Leader throughout the program and set up a prefferred contact method with Team Leader.
  2. Meet with Team Leader and LEAD Cohort once per month.
  3. Meet with your Team Leader one-on-one to discuss monthly goals. 
  4. Meet with your Mentor once a month
  5. Conduct an information interview once a semester
  6. 50hrs of leadership per semester 
  7. Complete 6 concept cultivators per semester
  8. Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA and keep yourself in good standing with Utah Valley University

Application Agreement: I understand that if I do not demonstrate active participation within any of the program requirements, the LEAD program has the right to dismiss me from the program. I will not receive the certification associated with the LEAD program if I am dismissed.- I understand that I may be subject to a background check.

Program Fulfillment: I will achieve a Standard Certificate over the course of two semesters. If I choose to complete a secondary year and complete High Distinction, I will complete four semesters.- I will attend all of my scheduled L.E.A.D. Team Leader meetings to review my progress.- I will attend all of my mentor meetings while being professional and respectful in my conduct.- I will complete my leadership coursework, receiving no grade lower than a C .- I will complete my StrengthsFinder Assessment and 360┬░ Evaluation.- I will turn in my Monthly Written Reflections each month on the due date.- I will complete my Information Interviews with professionals in my field of study. *

The LEAD Program does not accept or award every student who applies. Students are accepted based on the number of open positions, application responses, and observations made during the interview process.
