All people have a unique combination of talents, knowledge, and skills — strengths — that they use every day to do their work, achieve their goals, and interact with others. Strengths-based leadership "focuses on productive and developmental conversations with employees that coach them toward repeat performance. Teams where 90% of employees or more know their strengths have substantially higher engagement" (Asplund & Hickman, 2021). However, gender bias still pervades leadership and management in the United States, which creates unbalanced representation and unrealized potential. Attendees will leave with an awareness of how a strengths-based approach can make an impact on leadership development, how women can be more intentional in using their natural talents to engage their teams, and how male colleagues can become stronger supporters and allies.
