Mission of UVUSA

As the governing body of the Utah Valley University Student Association, Student Council is here to serve and advocate for students. We look for ways to create a sense of belonging for all students across campus, and help students build an affinity for UVU.

- Highlight campus involvement, leadership and volunteer experiences, and relevant skills
Upload media (i.e. video, powerpoint, etc.) stating why you want to be on UVUSA, and what skill sets set you apart from other applicants.
Respond to 2 short answer questions
Explain your qualifications and interest for each position you are interested in

After applications are received, they will be reviewed by the application committee, and you will be contacted regarding next steps.

Requirements to apply:

Applicant must be in good standing with the university
Applicant must have a cumuluative GPA of 2.75 or above in order to be eligible to apply for a position
- Those with a GPA of 2.75-2.99 will need to submit a letter of recommendation from an academic source as well as a personal statement addressing academic concerns.
- Those with a GPA of 3.0 or above DO NOT need to submit any additional documentation.
Applicant can't already have earned a bachelor's degree
Applicant must agree to be enrolled in at least 12 credits for the upcoming fall and spring semesters

Additional instructions for the previous question. Any applicant for Student Council must possess a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA at the time of application. Candidates with a GPA between 2.75-2.99 may still be considered for eligibility but are subject to the review of additional application requirements (academic letter of recommendation and personal statement addressing academic performance).

Terms and Conditions

Note about academic eligibility: All students who are participating in a Student Life sponsored program will have their academic
transcript and GPA reviewed throughout the year. This practice ensures students in the programs are
maintaining the required academic standards for participation and progressing towards the completion
of a certificate/degree. Academic eligibility will be reviewed according to the following timeline:

1. At time of application
2. At the end of spring semester (2026)
3. At the end of summer semester (2026)
4. At the end of fall semester (2026)

Each department head, in consultation with and approval of the AVP, will determine participation
eligibility requirements regardless of the form of compensation, but for a student to receive a scholarship
award, students must meet the academic eligibility requirements prior to the start of each semester.

If selected as a program participant, I commit to be enrolled as a full-time student at Utah Valley University with a minimum of 12 credit hours during the fall & spring semesters of which I am participating in an SLI student leadership program. *
