Outdoor Adventure Center Scholarship Fall 2025-Spring 2026

Thank you for your interest in the scholarship with the Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) at Utah Valley University. We are excited to work with new and energetic student leaders. The success of our program is directly related to the effort of our scholarship trip leaders and employees. You will be playing a vital role in our programming for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. You will not only receive an incredible experience; but also, valuable leadership, social, and recreational opportunities.

About Us:
Using outdoor spaces, we welcome creativity and leadership, build community, and cultivate stewardship. We serve UVU students and the broader community by offering equipment rentals, adventures, an indoor climbing wall, and other programs that help students connect with the outdoors.

Requirements:
* Commit to the OAC program for the full academic year from August 2025 to the first week of May  2026
* Maintain full-time student status at UVU during academic year (12 credits or more)
* Have and maintain minimum 2.75 GPA
* Plan, prepare, budget, promote (flyers and social media), and lead one overnight excursion
* Develop, promote, and present one educational clinic
* Plan, prepare, promote, and lead one day activity
* Attend weekly check-in's and monthly trainings
* Attend Fall and Spring weekend retreat
* Pass UVU background check


Mandatory Dates:
* Orientation Meeting: Thursday, May 8th, 10am-3pm
* Three day field training TBD
* Fall Program Dates Due: July 9th, 5pm
* Trip Leader Fall Retreat: August 15th-17th,  2025
* Monthly Trainings for all trip leaders will occur the first Tuesday of every month, starting in September
* Weekly Check In for scholarship students will be planned according to everyones schedule once selected
* Spring Program Dates Due: December 5th, 5pm
* Trip Leader Spring Retreat: January 9th-11th, 2026


Desired Skills:
* Experience leading outdoor adventures 
* Ability to problem solve and think creatively
* Sound decision making skills
* Ability to professionally interact with students, staff, faculty and the community
* First Aid Skiils
* Effective time management
* Valid Drivers License and no tickets within six months of starting


Interview Process:
Upon receiving completed applications, we'll review and select candidates for interviews. This process will take place April 17th - 20th, and inteviews will be April 21st - 23rd, 2025. If chosen, you'll be contacted via the email or phone number listed on your application.
